Project Overview

L&A Group was appointed by Barhale to deliver the installation of SAF (Submerged Aerated Filter) units across five wastewater treatment sites in Derbyshire. This multi-site project involved both civils and mechanical works, forming part of a broader upgrade programme to improve the treatment capacity and environmental compliance of each facility.

Scope of Works

Construction of reinforced concrete pump and kiosk bases, X Grid stone SAF bases with ssociated civils works to accommodate SAF units.
Full mechanical installation including pipework, valves, pumps, and manifold arrangements.
Coordination with multiple subcontractors for successful commissioning, electrical installations, and delivery logistics.

Project Challenges

Operating across five active sites, the project demanded tight coordination to ensure all phases - from delivery to commissioning - progressed smoothly without delay. Our team worked closely with Barhale and other stakeholders to align timelines and maintain efficiency while prioritising safety and compliance throughout.

Outcome

All five installations were delivered on time and on budget, with zero safety incidents. The collaborative approach between our Civils and Mechanical teams ensured efficient delivery and minimal disruption on-site, allowing the new treatment assets to come online as planned.
